Overview
Annie is a registered patent attorney with a background in mechanical engineering and energy systems. She has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO, preparing patentability opinions, advising on IP transactional matters, and providing IP litigation support.
Prior to joining Calfee as an Associate in 2025, Annie participated in an Intellectual Property externship with NASA Glenn Research Center. She also participated in Parker-Hannifin’s Intellectual Property Capstone program. In addition, she spent two summers with Calfee’s IP group as a Summer Associate, where she assisted with IP litigation cases, trademark prosecution, as well as preparation and prosecution of client inventions relating to software, mechanical, and medical devices, overcoming 101, 102, and 103 rejections.
Prior to attending law school, Annie served as a Project Engineer with an emerging technology and electrical supply chain company. She served as a paralegal with a legal technology company. She also served as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the electronic commerce technology center.
While earning her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Annie worked as an energy engineer with the Syracuse University Industrial Assessment Center, which is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy that helps provide energy audits to medium sized manufacturing companies. She also worked as a legal intern with the Intellectual Property Department at Lincoln Electric. Annie completed her ME Senior Design Capstone with an environmental control unit manufacturer. Throughout undergrad, she focused her studies on renewable, nuclear, and thermo-mechanical systems.
