Overview

Stephen honed his civil and criminal litigation and trial skills over the past 10 years as a civil litigator, criminal prosecutor, and as a Judge Advocate (JAG) in the United States Army, with two tours of duty in the Middle East.

As an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Felony Trial Division of the Butler County, Ohio Prosecutor’s Office, he prosecuted hundreds of felony crimes, including several high-profile cases, to jury verdict or guilty plea as first-chair trial counsel. As a prosecutor, he also briefed and argued numerous appeals on behalf of the state of Ohio.

Stephen also served in the United States Army as a Judge Advocate (JAG), where he rose to the rank of Major (O-4). Having served as general counsel to a forward-deployed brigade commander and as a defense attorney (public defender), Stephen is a decorated veteran.

In addition to his significant public service as a prosecutor and Army JAG, Stephen gained extensive civil litigation experience defending private clients in civil rights, construction, insurance coverage, business torts, and professional liability litigation.
