Michael G. VanBuren has joined Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP as a partner in the firm’s Health Care and Life Sciences practice group

Calfee is pleased to announce that Michael G. VanBuren joins Calfee’s health care practice, expanding range of services.  Michael provides legal and regulatory counseling to independent physician practices, hospitals and ancillary health care supply-chain providers. His areas of concentration include non-profit and specialty hospitals, health systems, long-term care facilities, dialysis facilities, physician groups and physicians in private practice in corporate, business, and regulatory matters including joint ventures, hospital-physician integration transactions, practice acquisitions, and physician employment agreements. He also counsels medical device manufacturers and durable medical equipment suppliers.

Michael's commitment to the medical community extends to his volunteer endeavors where he serves as a member of the Akron Bar Association Volunteer Hospice Committee, member of the American Health Lawyers Association and past chair of the Health Law Section of the Akron Bar Association. Additionally, he is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Summit County Community Partnership and Secretary of the Alumni Association Board of Western Reserve Academy.  Michael was also selected to participate in the Ohio State Bar Association’s Leadership Academy this year.

A graduate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, VanBuren was the 2007 recipient of the Richard A. and Brandon S. Collier Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Law-Medicine curriculum. He received a Master’s Degree from the George Washington University School of Political Management and obtained his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University.
