Overview

Nick has represented clients across a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, nicotine delivery devices, semiconductors, tire compounds, industrial lifting and relocation equipment, and DNA sequencing technology. He has represented clients in district court litigation, matters before the International Trade Commission, and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings, with experience in all phases of litigation and trial. 

Nick leverages his experience in drafting and prosecuting patents before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to provide clients with a wide range of tools for enforcing or protecting their intellectual property.

In addition to patent litigation and prosecution experience, Nick also has handled other intellectual property matters including trade secret litigation, technology transactions, trademark protection and enforcement, and copyright protection and litigation.

Prior to joining Calfee in 2025, Nick served as an associate attorney in the intellectual property group of a large international law firm. He previously worked as a judicial law clerk with the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C., exclusively handling complex patent infringement cases against the U.S. government.

He also previously served as a patent agent and as an associate attorney for a boutique patent prosecution firm.

While attending law school, Nick served as managing editor of the Intellectual Property Edition, Akron Law Review. He also served as secretary of the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Association.
