Calfee, Halter & Griswold Elects Two New Partners

CLEVELAND, January 10, 2019 – Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP is pleased to announce it has elected two new partners: Gwen Gillespie Herman and Michael B. Hurley.

Gwen Gillespie Herman practices with Calfee’s Corporate and Capital Markets group in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and sales, and public company M&A counseling. She counsels Calfee’s private and public company clients on general corporate, business, and governance matters, new business formation, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations. Herman represents both buyers and sellers from a broad cross-section of industries in the merger, acquisition or divestiture process. She also advises a wide variety of clients on general corporate and business matters, including corporate governance and commercial contracts. She was selected to the Ohio Super Lawyers “Ohio Rising Stars” list for her work in mergers and acquisitions in 2018. Herman earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her B.A., with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from Trinity College in 2004. She joined Calfee’s Cleveland office in 2010.

Michael B. Hurley practices with Calfee’s Corporate and Capital Markets, Finance, and Privacy and Data Security groups. He represents businesses on formation, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and venture capital arrangements. Hurley also serves as outside general counsel to a number of private companies and advises them on commercial contract negotiation, implementation of privacy and cyber-security policies and procedures, structuring business organizations, business succession planning, and ESOP transactions. He has been selected to the Ohio Super Lawyers “Ohio Rising Stars” list since 2016 and was named a “Cincy Leading Lawyer” by Cincy Magazine in 2018. Hurley earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2011, his M.B.A. from the University of Cincinnati College of Business in 2010, and his B.A. from Yale University in 2005. He joined Calfee’s Cincinnati office in 2014.
