Calfee is pleased to announce that Vanessa V. Healy has joined the firm’s Cleveland, Ohio, office as Senior Counsel. Vanessa brings extensive knowledge gained from both defending and prosecuting complex litigation cases, as well as the skills and experience needed to counsel clients on a wide range of investigations, legal disputes, and courtroom trials. Her practice will focus on representing clients in highly complex and sensitive health care litigation, white-collar defense and investigations, and other complex litigation matters.

As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Vanessa prosecuted cases involving securities fraud, public corruption, money laundering, bribery, health care fraud, tax fraud, embezzlement, identity theft, violent crime, and narcotics trafficking.

Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney's Office, Vanessa worked for over four years as a litigation associate at a global law firm, where her practice focused on white-collar criminal defense, corporate compliance, and anti-corruption due diligence.

Vanessa also served as a federal judicial law clerk for the Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin, where she managed the court's civil and multidistrict litigation docket, which contained more than 70,000 product liability actions.

“I am excited for the opportunity to help grow the White-Collar and Health Care practices at Calfee,” said Vanessa Healy. “The firm’s collaborative approach to client service comports with my practice, and I look forward to achieving the best possible outcomes for both longstanding and new clients facing complex and difficult challenges.”

Vanessa earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from Cleveland State University College of Law and her B.A. from Boston College.

“Vanessa adds strength and depth to Calfee’s White-Collar Defense and Investigations practice, and she will be a valued addition to the team," stated Fritz E. Berckmueller, Partner and Vice Chair of the Litigation practice group. “Vanessa’s federal trial court experience bolsters the broad-based state trial court experiences of our other group members. And her expertise in white-collar issues, including public corruption, securities fraud and health care fraud, will bring immediate impact not just to our White-Collar practice, but also our Litigation and, even more importantly, our Health Care practices. We are confident clients will be just as impressed as we are with Vanessa.”

Calfee's Litigation practice group consists of 40 attorneys representing public and private companies in a wide variety of industries, handling diverse matters ranging from typical legal disputes to complex commercial lawsuits and arbitrations in jurisdictions across the country. The experienced team focuses on developing the most efficient litigation strategy to help clients meet their objectives, from mediation or other alternative dispute resolution techniques to courtroom trials. Calfee has been recognized as a Leading Law firm by Chambers USA 2025 for Litigation: General Commercial (Band 2 – Ohio) and White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations (Band 2 – Ohio).

"My colleagues and I are excited to have Vanessa Healy join Calfee. Vanessa's experience, both as an AUSA and as an associate at an AmLaw 50 firm, aligns with the strategic growth of the Litigation group and is of tremendous value to clients who rely on Calfee to represent them in complex and oftentimes high-profile and high-risk matters, particularly those involving health care litigation and white-collar defense and investigations. The recent additions of Vanessa and other experienced attorneys to the Litigation team reflect our ongoing commitment to clients and our investment in talented attorneys with significant legal and industry expertise and strong relationships in our legal and business communities," said Thomas M. Welsh, Managing Partner at Calfee.
