Overview
Seth has managed the full lifecycle of patent and trademark prosecution, from initial application drafting through office actions, appeals and post-grant proceedings. He has also drafted and prosecuted utility and design patent applications as well as U.S. trademark filings across a range of technologies.
He has also handled patent litigation matters, including drafting claim construction briefs, dispositive and procedural motions and validity/infringement contentions in federal court. He has advised clients on pre-litigation strategies, including drafting or responding to cease-and-desist letters, conducting freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses, and engaging in early dispute resolution negotiations.
In addition, Seth has represented clients in PTAB proceedings, including preparing and filling ex parte reexaminations and inter partes review petitions.
Prior to joining Calfee in 2025, Seth worked as an Associate Attorney at an IP boutique law firm.
While attending law school, Seth served as managing editor of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies Law Journal. He was a member of the AIPLA Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition Team. In addition, he served as a summer intern and clinic member at the Indiana University Intellectual Property Law Clinic, where he prepared, filed and prosecuted patent and trademark applications and provided education in IP fundamentals to local small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Prior to attending law school, Seth served for three years as a Manufacturing Process Engineer with a global manufacturer of advanced composites and specialty polymers.
