Jennifer Walwyn Colvin, Senior Counsel in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, was a panelist at the Cincinnati Business Courier’s 2025 HR Forum on May 15. The forum gathered industry leaders to discuss the evolving landscape of human resources, talent management, and employment law under the current administration.

Jenn contributed her insights on the latest legal developments impacting employers, including:

  • Navigating recent enforcement priorities of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), particularly protections for LGBTQ+ employees.
  • Understanding the implications of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’s efforts to restrict noncompete agreements.
  • Responding to shifts in federal policies affecting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs and affirmative action requirements.
  • Managing employment law risks related to immigration compliance, wage and hour claims, and workplace policies.
  • Best practices for conducting workplace investigations to promote fairness and legal compliance.

Jamie Smith, publisher of the Cincinnati Business Courier, moderated the panel discussion, which featured diverse perspectives on talent management, employee engagement, financial wellness, and regulatory trends shaping HR strategies. Joining Jenn on the panel were Seth Priestle, Partner with Pension Corporation of America® (PCA), and Andrea Whalen, Senior HR Business Strategist with Clark Schaefer Strategic HR.
