Overview

Chris joined Calfee in 2012 and is a partner in the Intellectual Property Group. Chris specializes in obtaining patent protection in the U.S. and abroad. He counsels clients on matters of FTP, patentability, and trade secret memorialization. Chris leverages his extensive research and industrial experience to provide innovative solutions to complex intellectual property scenarios.

Chris earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Capital University Law School, where he received the Cali Award for Excellence: Patent Law, Ideas of the First Amendment. He served as editor of the Capital University Law Review (2009) and on Law Review (2008). Chris earned his M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Wright State University in 1999, and his B.S. in Chemistry, cum laude, from Wright State University in 1997.

Experience

Experience

  • Serving a multi-billion-dollar, multinational, publicly traded, Fortune 500 manufacturer for more than a decade, working with a team of in-house patent/IP counsel to handle the implementation of the client’s global IP protection objectives for all company divisions, including interfacing with Research & Development and business leaders concentrated in the United States and Europe. Specifically, Calfee oversees the drafting and prosecution of hundreds of patent applications throughout the world on behalf of the client and counsels the client on critical IP-related issues such as freedom-to-practice, trade secret strategies, and innovation harvesting.
