Overview

With almost 30 years of combined experience in policy and advocacy work at the local, state and federal levels, Christine is a highly knowledgeable and seasoned professional.  She has spent nearly two decades in Washington, D.C. helping guide Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and other business interests through the legislative and regulatory processes to achieve desired results.

Christine spent 18 years in the Public Law and Policy Group inside the Washington, D.C. office of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld providing specialized advice and counsel for firm clients, most specifically for clients in the financial services area. Clients included banks, thrifts, hedge funds and private equity firms, securities firms, digital currency companies, insurance companies, mortgage lenders, private mortgage insurers, a major credit rating agency, and other financial services-related institutions. 

Her comprehensive understanding of the financial services industry, along with deep working relationships with key policy makers, both on and off committees, including members of House and Senate leadership, enabled her to provide valuable strategic counsel to clients.

Christine also has strong working relationships inside federal agencies such as the Treasury Department, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve, Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Federal Housing Finance Authority and offices inside the White House. Christine has worked on countless efforts around small and large legislative and regulatory initiatives, such as the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 to name a few.

At Calfee, Christine heads the government relations practice in the D.C. office where she manages a wide portfolio of client issues from financial services and telecommunications to defense and aviation to education and retirement issues as well as others. Christine is able to utilize her extensive knowledge of Washington D.C. and federal government to help guide companies with the Ohio congressional delegation and other important members beyond Ohio.

Christine served as legislative counsel on the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs under former Chairman and U.S. Senator Alfonse D’Amato (R-NY). She also handled appropriations and other issues for former U.S. Senator Lauch Faircloth (R-NC). A native of Chagrin Falls, she has worked as a lobbyist in Ohio, as well as served as a staffer in the Ohio Senate, Ohio Attorney General’s office and Connecticut General Assembly.  

Christine also has expertise in building coalitions that include local and state grassroots and grass tops, as well as hiring and managing local and state political counsel. Christine’s vast relationships on the Hill and downtown enable her to quickly assess clients’ needs and provide insightful strategic advice.

Involved in political work, Christine has volunteered on numerous campaigns, including Presidential, U.S. Senate and U.S. House races.
