As a project manager, Chase led cross-functional teams to develop seat products from a customer’s request-for-proposal through mass production start-up. During these projects, he created and maintained development schedules while ensuring development costs stayed within budget at each development milestone.
As a vehicle seat development engineer, Chase specialized in electrical devices such as seat heaters, ventilation systems, and occupant detection sensors. In addition, he planned seat design and process validation testing for vehicle models with numerous seat variations in order to meet the regulatory requirements of multiple export markets.
Chase previously served as a Patent Engineer for a boutique patent law firm in Chicago, where he provided technical analysis of inventions in the fields of manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive. He also interviewed inventors and patent examiners to uncover and emphasize key features and advantages of inventions to maximize application approval rate, patent coverage, and patent defensibility. During his time in the role, Chase also drafted responses to USPTO office actions, contributed to the specification and claims of a patent application, and conducted prior art searches to determine patentability.
Chase earned his B.S., with honors, in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University, where he worked as a Licensing Associate in the Technology Commercialization Office and as a Market Research Assistant at the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence.
