Fran Mitchell Schaul, Senior Counsel with Calfee, recently gave a presentation on powers of appointment at The Marvin R. Pliskin Advanced Probate and Estate Planning Seminar, an event hosted by the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA). The presentation, entitled “Power to the People: Creating and Exercising Powers of Appointment,” was given at the Nationwide Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio. Schaul’s practice is concentrated in the areas of estate and generation skipping planning, the taxation of estates and trusts and the administration of estates. She provides counsel to clients on asset protection planning, including the Ohio Legacy Trust. In addition to a wealth of experience using sophisticated tax and planning strategies such as GRATs, QPRTs, Dynasty Trusts and Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts, she brings to the practice a deep satisfaction in working closely with clients and their families, serving as a trusted counselor and adviser.
