This presentation will summarize recent decisions of the National Labor Relations
Board (“NLRB”) interpreting the National Labor Relations Act (“NLRA”) including
protected activity under Section 7 of the NLRA, classification of individuals as
employees or independent contractors, legality of workplace work rules,
NLRB election procedures, etc.

Workers' Compensation/OSHA Update

This session will review recent Ohio court decisions as to workers’ compensation
and OSHA matters. Among the topics to be discussed will be
new case law addressing “voluntary abandonment” under Ohio law
and compliance guidance as to workplace safety.

Wage and Hour Update: New OT Regulations and More

This presentation will review the proposed recent regulations issued by the Wage and
Hour Division of the Department of Labor revising the criteria for exempting employees
from the overtime pay requirements of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”).
We will also cover recent developments relative to classification of workers as
employees or “independent contractors,” and common mistakes
employers are making relative to complying with the FLSA.

Avoiding Pitfalls: Varying States, Varying Laws

laws providing restrictions on pre-employment inquires, etc.
