Wage and Hour Update: New OT Regulations and More
This presentation will review the proposed recent regulations issued
by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor revising
the criteria for exempting employees from the overtime pay requirements
of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”). We will also cover
recent developments relative to classification of workers as employees
or “independent contractors,” and common mistakes employers are making
relative to complying with the FLSA.

Avoiding Pitfalls: Varying States, Varying Laws
 We will survey various topics related to the workplace
for which different states have different laws, such as paid leave laws,
payout of accrued vacation upon termination, laws protecting against
discrimination based upon sexual orientation,
laws providing restrictions on pre-employment inquiries, etc.

Why Every Employer Should Care About the California Consumer Privacy Act
This session will discuss the California Consumer Privacy Act,
which constitutes the broadest and most comprehensive privacy law
in the United States to date. This will impact almost every company that
conducts business in California. Companies in every state, regardless of whether
they have offices or employees in California, need to take the steps necessary
to be compliant when this law takes effect on January 1, 2020.
