BOB serves as chair of the firm’s International group and practices general corporate law for both public and private companies.  He helps clients conduct complex mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and counsels them on partnership and tax law concerns, including the formation and use of limited liability companies.

In his international practice, Bob guides and counsels clients through international ventures, including global strategic alliances and joint ventures.  He also handles venture capital fund formation and represents private venture and junior capital funds in structuring and completing mezzanine debt transactions, venture capital investments and junior capital investments (both control and non-control).  He has also advised clients on franchise opportunities in the restaurant/hospitality industry, minor league baseball and the Arena Football League.

Bob is an active member of the American and Ohio State Bar Associations as well as Lex Mundi, the world’s leading association of independent law firms worldwide.  He serves as chairperson for the Lex Mundi Cross-Border Transaction Group, the largest practice group within the Lex Mundi affiliation, and is also vice president of the Greater Cleveland International Lawyers Group.  He has lectured before the Cleveland Tax Institute and the Cleveland Bar Association.

Bob began his tenure with Calfee in 1985 and became a partner in 1993.
