Zoe K. Carlisle

Senior Attorney

ZOË litigates and tries business and corporate disputes for publicly-traded and privately-held companies. She works with clients on developing strategies to resolve complex and diverse litigation, with a concentration in corporate, contract, and real estate disputes. Zoë also represents corporate policyholders in obtaining recovery of insurance proceeds for their liabilities and losses, including successfully litigating against insurance carriers who wrongfully deny coverage. 

Zoë appears in state and federal courts on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Her recent experience includes:
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of one of the nation’s largest banks on claims arising from a real estate venture;
  • Successfully represented manufacturer in an international arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce in Geneva, Switzerland, on contract claims valued over $50 million arising from the dissolution of a joint venture;
  • After trial, awarded judgment in favor of a leading international tire manufacturer on its multimillion dollar claims against a competitor;
  • Obtained judgment in favor of plaintiff bank arising from a fraudulent loan and auto purchase scam;
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of financial institution on claims for Consumer Sales Practices Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act claims;
  • Successfully negotiated cost-share allocations and coverage from previously non-participating insurance carriers for a manufacturer facing nationwide litigation.
She is actively involved in the greater Cleveland community and currently serves as the Marketing Chair of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland Bridge Board as well as a member of the Near West Theatre Benefit Committee.  Zoë is a member of the 2011 class of Cleveland Bridge Builders, run by the Cleveland Leadership Center and has been selected as a 2012 fellow for the Marshall Memorial Fellowship through the German Marshall Fund. She also is a member of the Ohio and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.

Zoë graduated with honors from Emory University School of Law in 2004 and earned her bachelor of arts degree, summa cum laude, in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University in 2001.  Zoë began her tenure with Calfee in 2004 and has served as a member of the firm’s Hiring Committee since 2009.
