PETER primarily focuses on tax law. Recognized as a certified specialist in Federal Taxation Law by the Ohio State Bar Association, he represents:
> Publicly traded and middle market businesses, including “C” corporations, “S” corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, in corporate acquisitions; formation and funding; like kind exchanges; and tax appeals and litigation.
> Owners of privately held businesses and high net worth individuals in corporate succession planning through reduction of estate, gift and GST taxes.
> Tax-exempt organizations and donors who make sophisticated charitable gifts.
> Governmental entities, conduit borrowers and underwriters on the tax issues involved in tax-exempt bond financings, including general governmental financing, industrial revenue bond financing and qualified 501(c)(3) financing.
Peter is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Cleveland Tax Club, and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, where he currently serves as an officer of the Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law Section, and where he formerly chaired the General Tax Committee. Peter also serves on the Development and Planned Giving Committee of Magnificat High School and on the Professional Advisory Council of the Diocese of Cleveland Foundation. He speaks regularly to professional groups, such as the Cleveland Tax Institute, the Cleveland State and Local Tax Institute, and the Ohio Society of CPAs Ohio Accounting Show and Members Summit.
Peter joined Calfee in 2006, having previously practiced with another major law firm and a “Big-Four” accounting firm. He holds an inactive Ohio Certified Public Accountant license.
