MIKE serves as co-chair of the Health Care and Life Sciences group. He advises health systems, hospitals and other nonprofit organizations on health care mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and innovative affiliations. He also concentrates on corporate and tax-exempt organization matters.

The scope of Mike’s work includes counseling clients in connection with governance, tax, fraud and abuse, and regulatory compliance and compensation matters. He also counsels publicly-traded and closely-held companies on joint ventures, strategic alliances and other complex financing and operational transactions.

Mike is a member of the American Bar Association’s Health Law, Business Law, Tax and Natural Resources Sections. He is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Healthcare Financial Management Association and Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations, as well as former chair of the CBA’s Health Law Section. Mike is a frequent speaker on a variety of health law, corporate governance subjects and exempt organizations.

Mike began his tenure with Calfee in 1977 and became a partner in 1984.
