Mark A. Watson

Associate

MARK concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation and prosecution, primarily assisting his clients in the prosecution of patents with a particular emphasis on electrical, mechanical, and software technologies.

Mark draws on his more than sixteen years of engineering and management experience working in various industries, including robotics, electrical design, injection molding, welding, and automotive assembly. He has worked for both small and large companies, including fourteen years at Ford Motor Company in various engineering and management positions, which allows him to offer clients practical counsel regarding their intellectual property and business concerns.

Mark was awarded the Society of Plastic Engineer’s (SPE) Most Innovative Use of Plastics award in 1994 for his work introducing post-consumer, automotive recycled plastics back into new automotive vehicles.

He is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and Cleveland Intellectual Property Lawyers Association. Prior to joining Calfee, Mark was an engineer at Ford Motor Company as well as a law clerk at Renner, Otto, Boiselle & Sklar LLP.

He joined Calfee in 2008.
