KEVIN focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation, where he represents both privately-held and publicly-traded businesses on a variety of issues.
Kevin also concentrates his practice on insolvency-related litigation matters, including commercial bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and receiverships, with an emphasis on avoidance actions, fraudulent conveyances, and claim resolution. In a recent case, Kevin defended a German client from claims arising out of the client’s membership in a bankrupt joint venture involved in the manufacture of vinyl products for the automotive industry. After successfully having the case withdrawn from the bankruptcy court to the district court, Kevin and the rest of the Calfee team were able to negotiate a highly favorable settlement for the client.
Additionally, he is a member of the firm’s Public Utilities and Telecommunications group where he represents public utilities and electric service companies before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). Kevin counsels his public utility and electric service company clients regarding compliance with the energy efficiency and alternative energy mandates of Ohio law.
As a member of the firm's Construction practice group, Kevin represents contractors and subcontractors in various contexts. His most recent experience includes representing a subcontractor in a dispute with a general contractor regarding flood damage to the construction project.
Kevin authored Speeding Towards Disaster: How Cleveland’s Traffic Cameras Violate the Ohio Constitution, 55 Clev. St. L. Rev. 608. Additionally, Kevin volunteers his time to the Legal Aid Society and the Cleveland Public Schools through the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association's 3R's program.
He joined Calfee in 2008.
