Jean R. Robertson Partner

JEAN serves as chair of the Business Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice group.  She has extensive experience representing creditors, debtors, creditors’ committees and trustees on a wide range of creditors’ rights, business reorganization and bankruptcy matters, including chapter 11.

Jean has represented clients on a wide range of industry and transaction specific matters, including large and middle-market companies in the steel, automotive, manufacturing, coal, plastics, healthcare industries and retail.  In 2003, she was named by the national publication Turnarounds and Workouts as one of 11 “Outstanding Young Bankruptcy Attorneys” in the country and she has been named as a leader in her field of law by Chambers USA.

A frequent lecturer and author, Jean is co-chair of the Unsecured Trade Creditors’ Committee for the American Bankruptcy Institute, the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency, and she is a contributing editor for a healthcare bankruptcy column in the ABI Journal.  Jean is also co-chair of the Healthcare and Nonprofits in Bankruptcy Subcommittee of the Business Section of the American Bar Association.

An active member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), Jean is the founder of the local Northeast Ohio IWIRC Network. She is also a founding member of In Counsel With Women.  Jean is also a past chair of the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

Jean is on the board of trustees of the Cleveland Zoological Society and the American Heart Association Cleveland Chapter. She previously worked on the Cuyahoga County Bar Association Bankruptcy Pro Bono Project, and was a member of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission’s 2007 NCAA Women’s Final Four Local Planning Committee.
