Calfee has been named a Go-To Law Firm for Intellectual Property. The firm was selected through recent surveys of in-house law departments at Fortune 500 companies, conducted by Corporate Counsel/ALM. Corporate Counsel is a well-respected referral guide to the legal profession in the United States.

Calfee has one of the largest intellectual property and information technology practices in a general practice firm within the Midwest. The group is experienced in all aspects of intellectual property protection, including disputes and litigation, and have approximately 25 attorneys registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The firm’s patent experience includes extensive work in all technical disciplines including biosciences, electronics, software, mechanical devices, consumer products and chemical technologies. The group includes attorneys with multi-disciplinary science and engineering backgrounds who understand the technical aspects and practical applications of intellectual property assets.

Less than one half of one percent of all law firms in the U.S. and abroad receive the distinction of Go-To Law firm. Corporate Counsel/ALM sends surveys to the general counsel at the top 500 companies. Their in-house legal departments then compile data on their primary law firms. Primary law firm refers to the law firms that are on the company’s preferred list for a specified practice area, firms that handled the most important cases in the previous year and firms used most often. Furthermore, data is collected through research in various resources such as public records, leading publications and well-respected commercial databases.
