Alexander B. Reich

Associate

ALEX is a litigator focused on assisting publicly-traded and privately-held companies in a wide range of business disputes, including contract, business tort, commercial, and insurance coverage claims.  Recently, he has prevailed on dispositive motions, resulting in the dismissal of claims against business clients before trial.  As lead counsel in 2010, Alex obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a publicly traded Ohio bank following a bench trial.

As a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment group, Alex works with clients on a variety of workplace matters.  In addition to conducting on-site investigations into allegations of wrongful employment practices, he represents clients in the defense of claims brought under various state and federal anti-discrimination laws.  Alex also defends employers in proceedings before state and federal administrative agencies.

As part of his practice, Alex represents employers and insurers in litigation brought under ERISA.  His experience includes defending claims brought under all sections of ERISA, such as claims for wrongful denial of benefits, breach of fiduciary duty, and for violations of ERISA’s contribution requirements.

Alex serves on the executive council for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and is a member of the associate board for Boys Hope Girls Hope Northeast Ohio.  He received his Bachelor of Arts with honors from Washington University in St. Louis in 2006 and his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, summa cum laude, in 2009. He was chairman of the Moot Court Board of Governors and continues to serve as an advisor to Cleveland-Marshall’s Moot Court team.

He joined Calfee in 2010.
